The Dodge Charger stakes a claim as the most iconic muscle car of all – mainly because of its shape, but its appearance in the Dukes of Hazzard TV show might have helped, too. A big Hemi V8 (up to 7.0 liters for the R/T) secures its place in muscle car folklore.
Unlike the Charger and Challenger nameplates, Pontiac’s GTO has somewhat died a death. It still doesn’t take the shine off the original first-gen 60s icon. One of the hardest looking muscle cars ever, and with anything from a 5.4- to a 6.5-litre V8, it was one of the coolest, too.
